Along came a spider
It used to be that you could just get dressed up. Not so much anymore.
Oscar’s “unit of enquiry” this term is “mini-beasts”. Little O ignored the arachnophobic whimpers of his father and chose to study the spider. Not enough to get dressed for the parade, it needed to be in fully recycled materials.
Pretty cute though.
Bunny à la mode
We almost forgot about THE PRESENT of 2009. One Holland Lop Bunny called Millie. Loved for its “compact size and attractiveness” and recognisable by its floppy ears…
Daddy was successful in convincing Maisie to call the first bunny “Ponzi”… although after Ponzi went back to the store due to some suspiciously erect ears, Maisie was a little hesitant to give this second bunny the same name. BunBun was the leading contender, so Millie seemed like an acceptable compromise.
Mille and Meg are .. um great friends. You would be surprised how fast this little Bunny can run.
Others are allowed to play with Millie as well, but only briefly, under supervision and not very often.
Birthday season… Quattro Moo.
As birthday season continued, Maisie turned 4 with a bang. Fueled by castles, balloons and pink sugar, it was all about fabulous outfits, funky sunglasses and glamorous gifts.
The suspense watching the preparations almost killed us…
But it sure was worth it in the end.
The Balloon Man cometh, blowing swans, spiderman and ballerinas. Makes Daddy’s attempt at puppies look decidedly lame.
And of course… La la was there to celebrate it all…
The present pile quickly grew out of control…
Maisie adorned herself in jewels and Hugo pitched on the most masculine work.
Lastly… Maisie finally cracks a smile with the 2 MacMahon girls… children of Bollywood fame.
Great sporting traditions…
Poor little Huges doesn’t get a lot of airtime on the site, despite the rowdy calls of his broad and passionate online fan base in the comments sections. Thought we’d throw you a bone.
Consistent with family tradition, we have demanded he select a sport to dedicate his life to and have started intensive evening training…
Meanwhile… for the fully grown weekend warriors, training for the half marathon continues apace…
Indian dichotomies
The editor is back in India reveling the oppressive Delhi heat wave at 46C. Such a nice break from chilly old Singapore.
On the way into the office, a driver handed me a lovely bottle of cold Himalayan water… on the bottle was a message… from the water, to the drinker.
I look back on life.
It’s funny how things turn out. You, the creator of beeping sirens and honking cars, yearn for the solitude of the mountains.
You, a connoisseur of fast food, now gaze at water that took years to gather minerals as it trickled its way down from the Himalayas to within your reach.
And I, some of the purest water in the world…
stand here, trapped in a bottle.Come, enjoy the irony.
Sufficiently pithy and erudite to be worth sharing….
Little O getting not so little …. “the boy” turns 6!
OK – wow …. so this is super late. Doesn’t mean that we don’t love him though.
Little O’ski turned 6 a while ago. We have talked about it a lot and decided that 6 is a pretty big milestone… all about being grown up and what not, best behaviour bla bla bla… lets just see how all that goes then…
Orange was the theme of the day. An Spiders. And ice skating. A natural fit.
Oscar spent most of the time iceskating with his girls…
Little Maisie got amongst it too…
Hugie generally stayed above the fray…
And we paused the engulfing of pizza for just long enough to cut the cake…
Bring on 7 baby.
Oscar Nadal?
With the incredibly successful Bobcats season now formally over, it is onto the next sporting adventure. Maintaining his parentally supported ambition to only participate in the highest paying sports, Oscar has moved straight into tennis lessons.
Mini-court, mini-rackets… full size tantrums.
Running machines…
It was 3am, New Years night. Champagne # 9 in one hand, pie #3 in the other.
You know the situation… an impassioned debate about resolutions for the year…
Him: Umm… I know…. how about: Improve my X-box score… ?
Her: Ahhh… how about no… how about: work less… or maybe: travel less. actually maybe doing more around the house… or maybe….
Anyway. Before the brainstorm could get into full swing, we settled on a compromise… run a half marathon together in 2009.
Preparations have been in full swing. Trainer engaged to ruin 1 morning per week. Punishing régime adopted. All fun curtailed.
Step 1 in this weekend. The 10km Singapore Passion Run…
All leading up the the army half marathon in August…
remind me not to drink next New Years…
We’ll try to get some pics of the ponies on the course and update them here.
